Iglesias is nothing but an out--you send him up to bat to "End A Rally"....LOL...hitting...Ppfftt....he gets on base with a walk-or-hit by pitch. LOL
Are you watching the same games the rest of us are?
lol
When he was with Boston he had a .330 avg with an 18 game hitting streak where he batted .420 over 100 plate appearances. Then with the Tigers after we got him in August he hit .259 in the regular season and overall has a career batting avg of .274 which is not at all shabby for a young guy only in his 2nd year of majors. Not to mention he is the only guy on the Tigers that knows how to lay down a bunt and is lightning quick down the 1st base line. I saw him beat out many throws to first to get on base on infield hits last year that would have been an out for any other Tiger hitter/runner.
I liked Johnny and he had more power for sure than Jose, but trust me Jose is going to do much more for us than Johnny did. This year I guarantee you that you will see Ausmus call for the squeeze now when needed with Jose at the plate and he will get the bunt down to score runs. You have to give the guy a chance, he's only been a Tiger since August. His numbers show he is a good hitter. Plus keep in mind that Johnny was gonna cost us A LOT more money, money which we just saved on Prince so we could resign Max as well as Miggy when his contract is up before too long (2015 I believe it is). *** Yes, I have watched the same games as you.

I have watched Iglesias lay down a perfect bunt and the man on 3rd. home on a "squeeze play"...it was great. I have seen him run like a bullet down to first and beat the infield throw...he is Fast! His fielding is excellent at shortstop! He may have batted well with Boston--but this has not been the case with the Tigers.

With the Tigers-his hitting has been a disappointment. Once in awhile he gets a hit and then consecutive outs and many with RISP. When I saw him-or-Fielder at bat-I thought..."Oh Great" another out"--I was Right!!

We will have to see how it goes in 2014...I don't expect Iglesias to change his hitting much though-just Not a Power Hitter. Peralta IS worth the $$$, his bat has proven his worth and his fielding is good. I would still choose Peralta--over--Iggy!!

Glad we had this "chat"...LOL...
