I like the fact that it frees up $$$.  Hopefully they use it to keep Max Scherzer.

My question is, who the heck is  Brad Ausmus?  I know he played a short time for the Tigers, but seems short on experience.   Hopefully Dave D. is making another good pick.

Ausmus has almost 20 yrs in the game as a player, managed international league for a year, is a very intelligent guy (went to Dartmouth) but I think the main thing that makes him a good candidate to be a good manager is the fact that he was an all star catcher his entire baseball career. Catchers generally make good managers because they are pretty much the anchor of the team while on the field.

I actually think he's a good choice mainly because we had 8 yrs of a manager that was too old school and very stuck in his ways. So I think that going somewhat the polar opposite (young & fresh) might be just the spark we need to get us what we need. No way to know for sure though, we'll find out, only 5 months till spring training 8)

This was just posted on the Tigers site today....

The free-agent outfield market includes switch-hitting postseason hero Carlos Beltran, multi-tooled lefty Shin-Soo Choo and a familiar lefty bat in former Tiger Curtis Granderson.

I would LOVE to see us get Grandy back! 8)

Yeah I still got my Granderson shirt as well  ;D I was not happy when they traded him, but that trade was what brought us Scherzer and Jackson (and Coke ::)) so I guess we made out pretty well on that deal. Sure would be nice to see him come back home to Detroit though.

I would love to see Granderson come back to the Tigers.  Looks like he learned a lot about his bat.

Would get Jasckson out of the lead off spot also, most likely.

I like seeing changes coming for next year.
