You have to lay blame on this FAILED season on Dombrowski...Believe it or not, for ALL the GREAT moves he has made, the one move he did NOT make was the most critical. Going into the season they knew they needed a closer / bull pin help, he did nothing to fix that situation.  All Boston had to do was be patient and once the starter left the game,  it was free swinging...

IMO - I would keep Peralta next year, he is a professional hitter, they don't have many of those on this roster. They also need to pick up more experienced players like Hunter and replace Don Kelly, Andy Dirks and Ramon Santiago. That is how the Wings did it all those years.  You need experience and more professional hitters in those backup positions to succeed in the Playoffs.

YOU KEEP JIM LEYLAND, unless you can get Tony La Russa....

I do not know what you do with Fielder, but I do know this, Miggy does not win the Triple crown without Fielder last year. But if the Tigers could get rid of him i'd do it and they should also keep V Martinez as Miggy's protection (another professional hitter)...

You obvious offer the world to Max Scherzer and keep him.....

You also keep Rick Porcello, young arm still developing...

LASTLY PLEASE GET RID OF PHIL "JOKE"...

I agree with most of what you said, except for this one........."YOU KEEP JIM LEYLAND, unless you can get Tony La Russa...."

No way man, the old coot needs to GO and go NOW. How many times have we seen ol' Smokey yank a pitcher that was doing good just so he could go to his 7th inning guy or 8th inning guy, or his lefty / righty match up, or leave in a pitcher that was blowing it. Leyland is WAY too set in his ways with the pitchers, way to faithful to pitch counts and way to stubborn with his line up. What other skipper would keep a guy (Fielder) in the #3 spot when he's batting .100 with zero RBI's in the post season? And what other skipper would basically Waste the talent of someone like Smyly by only using him for 1 batter a game. That's just plain ridiculous.

We are out of the WS and payoffs because of Jim Leyland. The two games we lost (Game 4 and Game 6) where lost because of the results of his inability to manage the pitching staff, the starting pitchers too early in both those games before they needed to be, and he trotted out a parade of pitchers until he found one having an off day and both times it resulted in grand slams. The team played poorly that's for sure, but I put the main part of those two loses on Jimmy boy from the reult of his bad managment of the pitching staff. We've been stuck watching him do the same thing for 8 yrs now and it just does not work.

At one time Leyland was a good manager in his day, but because of his age, stubborness, and inability to evolve with the game, baseball has passed him by and we are stuck with a manager that we will never win a WS with. He needs to retire.

We can only hope that LaRussa is his replacement.

I understand that LaRussa spent a week with the Tigers in the Spring, do you think this was pre-meditated ?

Whomever takes over should have a stacked line-up next year,  they should be walking into a PRIME situation...

Probably not pre-meditated because Leyland said he didn't tell Dombrowski till Sept 7th, but they are saying that there are many rumors that LaRussa may in fact be up for the job 8)

Yes,  he is Retiring and will not be back for the 2014 Season. The wishes of many people has become true. Now, which person to replace Mr. Leyland is the next step. I am sure he has taken a lot of backlash over his managing and perhaps has had enough. I believe he is tired and ready to resign and to get away from all the negative remarks about him. You can hear the motion in his voice-which you can expect. I wish him well in his retirement and to relax and get away from the reporters etc.

A New Manager-might help the Tigers-but some players I believe must be traded if there is going to be a more stronger team that can go and win the World Series. Some players have to exit the team-and replaced with better, more offensive players-if they are going to be a serious offensive team! We will have to see what 2014 holds and who will be their new manager.  8)

Tony La Russa is the best choice to work with the talent that the tigers have.

Max is going to go up on the trading block, as he is worth a lot right now.

Torrie Hunter is going to hang up the cleats, so we will need a right fielder

Prince needs to be traded, he is way over paid for doing nothing but getting bigger in the waistline and the pocket book.

Johnny P is gone

Benot (sp) needs to go.

Bring smiley in as a starter, Porcelia (sp) could become a long term reliever

Alex A needs to get a good back up or become a back up for a better catcher.

The young guy at SS is awesome, the 2nd basemen is good. Austin Jackson is ok but dont put him in the one spot.

So In my eyes we need  a couple of out fielders Move Miggie over to first, bring Nick C up and put him at third, vmart stays at dh, and find a real closer.

and for god sakes the new coach I hope he isnt one of those guys that switches picthers after every batter like leyland did.

Rich the sad thing is we are stuck with Fielder for the next 8 years unless someone else is stupid enough to pick up the remaining $185m of his contract which I don't see happening. Max is up for more money but I really don't think Dombrowski is going to let him go away. I bet he offers Max the world to keep him after this years season Max had.

And I honestly would not be surprised to see Torii back next year. He's 38 yrs old but that guy is in better shape then most 28yr olds, I think he still has one maybe even two more years in him to be honest.
