Yeah Benoit really makes me stress out anytime he comes in. He has good days and bad days and you never know what you'll get. Back when Valverde went down the tubes and we were looking for who the closer role was gonna go too I was really hoping Smyly would get it. I know he's young but he has the type of stuff that can get guys out and he does seem to handle stress situations quite well.

Yeah I was laughing when Miggy stole 2nd as well. I was looking down working on something and heard them say Miggy steals 2nd base and I looked up and said "WHAT??"  ;D

*** Benoit apparently " stresses us both out" when he is on the mound. ~I recall game 2  :( ~ Lately-he just keeps giving runs back and then closes.  :o He reminds me of Valverde--giving runs back and losing won games. Did you notice the "faces" of the Tigers team when the camera went to the dug-out while Benoit pitched--I didn't see any happiness--looked like they were (rightfully) worried!! Smyly is a good pitcher and I heard the sportscasters say that he might possibly be considered a starter sometime. Not sure he has that stamina to go the distance-would have to "see and find out".!! Very Good relief pitcher--although he has come to the mound on occasion and disaster. Relief Yes--Starter..??..hhhmmmm..??  ::) I believe Smyly has a future in pitching indeed and Iglesia may very well become a Golden Glove Shortstop....excellent defensive player--just can't hit worth a hoot--unless he outruns the hit to first--he can RUN--LOL--even catches fly balls Miggy cannot move quick enough. He runs all the way from shortstop to catch a foul ball long before Miggy gets there!! Good Thing he is at Shortstop--someone help him bat better!!  ;D ***

I was also "distracted" when I heard Miggy stole a base...WHAT...replay confirmed and I laughed....he wasn't moving fast at all....they could have got him...LOL  8)

~~ I think Fielder is "over-paid". He isn't doing much but making plenty of outs. I Trust Martinez more then Fielder. Fielder-has become more of an out than a hit.  :( ~~

Smyly actually was a starting pitcher for us last year. We picked him up in 2010 and he stayed in the minors all 2011, but he was in our starting rotation last year most the 2012 season. It was when we picked up Sanchez in August 2012 that we switched Smyly to a relief pitcher. For the 5 months that Smyly was a starter for us though is had a 4-3 record over 99 innings with almost 100 k's and I believe he was had a ERA in the high 3's like 3.8 or 3.9.

Just checked , he had a 3.99 ERA as a starter

If it isn't rained-out, today's game will have an evenly matched pitchers duel. Anibal Sanchez (15-9) Vs. Jon Lester (16-9) Sanchez's era is lower.  8)

Should be a great game today that's for sure. With Sanchez on the mound IF our hitting is still like it was last night then we should have a better than average chance at pulling ahead in the series tonight. We'll see though.I have a feeling the Sox are gonna take a lot of pitches today to try to drive Sanchez count up and make our bullpen come in to play. At least that would be the wise choice for them.

Not sure WTH was wrong with Sanchez tonight be he wasn't half the pitcher he was just 5 days ago :o I'm getting real tired of losing 1 run games this year.

I got some advice for Fielder........HIT THE FRIGGIN BALL!!!!

I believe it is-over-for the Tigers. Boston will finish them of in Boston. It is over.. :(..Best to end it now and wait until next season and maybe get a couple more good batters and good-decent-effective relief pitchers.

Fielder Stinks!!  >:( Overpaid batter--trade him for a more effective batter!!

That wild-pitch by Sanchez made All The Difference between losing the game and tying. He lost the games as well as the batters not quite doing their job. I say it is over and the Tigers I think might see the end is near!!  :(

Look at Miggy..he surely looks disappointed--can't blame him-the whole team is allowing the series to slip away!! He had a chance to hit get a tying run in by simply flying-out. He hits into a double-play and it's over!!  >:(

I'm not giving up just yet because the next two games are Max and JV so we have a chance still, but I'd say we have maybe a 25% chance at best the way it looks now :-\

Did you see that running swooping grab by iglesias last night? wow that kid is gonna be an all-star shortstop  8)

There were a few close calls at first and second that didnt go our way.

and for the love of god, Put fielder in the 9 hole or bench him.

He is way over rated

The guy who should the most props is Alex A. That guy has taken a beating behind the plate and just keeps on going till he cant any more

Yeah I feel bad for Alex that guy gets beat up more than anyone in the game, and it happens every single year for some reason.

Just a little bump last night,  lol as long as it isn't me.  At least it wasn't a concussion like last year.

Yet again Leyland and his pitching parade screw us and leads to a grand slam HR. This game game as well as season are over.

The Tigers losing 2-out-of-3-in Detroit...well...it showed what to expect in Boston. As usual...Fielder was--useless--as was Auto-out Avila and the regular zero hitters. They are NOT yet the team to be to go into the World Series and Win.  :(

Now, it's the St. Louis Cardinals VS. The Boston Red Sox. in the World Series.

"The Enemy of My Enemy...Is My Friend.!!"   ;D

Go Cardinals!!  8)

The old phrase..."wait until next year"...applies to the Tigers.  :(

Better to have lost now--than to be embarrassed by losing the World Series twice in a row.

I wonder what the Tiger players are talking about now.

I agree-that-Fielder is Way-Over-Paid!! He just fizzled-out.  :o

I still just don't know was going through that big empty head of his when he stopped halfway to home plate and then belly flopped into a double play trying to get back to 3rd, that was probably one of the worst base running errors I have ever seen. I just hope his huge contract doesn't cost us Scherzer because Max's contract is up now so if we end up losing Max because there's not enough money then that's gonna make fielder an even bigger signing mistake than he already is.
