Oh lol u will need a grow out tank. I like to use 20 longs for when there small but as they grow I like to use  36" tank for when my fry are starting to bully each other.

I know I've asked this question before, but what is a stress free way of pulling a holding female out of a larger decorated tank.  The last couple of times I tried by pulling out the decorations, and still stressed the female out so she spit in the tank.  I only had a few fry survive by hiding in holey rock.

Take all the decor out and wait for her to calm down then try to catch her.

I've tried that.  I must not be too skilled in netting.   :o
The 48"long tank has a support bar in the middle.  They are smart and go from 1 side to the other.  I did get a bigger net.  Maybe I'll try that next time.  I've heard about trying to get them while sleeping.  That would be interesting, going into work at night and trying to get them out.
Maybe I need night vision goggles.  lol

I pulled both my females out and put them in a breeder net. They didnt spit at all. They seemed more stressed in the net. So I let them back in the tank. I figured I'd just let them take care of fry and let nature take its course. I'm not set up with a fry tank yet and have no clue what I would even do with all the babies. Got 12 in my 60 gallon as it is... Maybe you should pull them as soon as you know they are holding? Maybe they are so hungry after a week or two they can't handle the stress... I don't know? Just a thought...

Kaia, pull the females and then put them in a net breeder. Leave the fry there til they're about an inch maybe a little less. I'm sure if you put them up on here, plenty of people would be interested. A few stores may take them also. The store I work at may be interested. Let me know

I put them in a net... They were freaking out and seemed more stressed than in the tank. I also pulled my dominant male to see the colors on the sub. Dominant male. The dominant male lost all color in about an hour haha! Now the sub colors up all the time, provided he's near a lady and the Dom doesn't see him. I'm sure since these ladies are holding (and they seem to be doing a fine job) that they will do it again many times over. By the next time I hope to have a 10 gallon fry tank up and running. I'm just trying to do so much. I want to get a couple sponges up and running in my tanks too. Seems the LFS haven't even heard about or sell what I'm looking for?!? Nothing local to me (and there is a lot of them) sells anything special. Doubt they'd be interested in some awesome ruby greens lol
