The penalty shot call was absolutely horrible. I'm not saying Detroit deserved to win or lose, but making such a weak call in such a huge game was absolutely ridiculous. It's such a weak call, I'd still be complaining no matter what game it was called in.

That was literally the exact play in which a penalty shot should be called.  Everything that happened during that play justifies the penalty shoot call.  And they straight up got out played anyways.  Even when they were up they looked bad.

Ever played hockey? The defender doesn't have to give up once the forward gets past him. If he'd significantly hooked or tripped him down to the ice I wouldn't argue with a penalty shot. The defender didn't exactly give him a two-handed swing of a slash. I'm also not saying it shouldn't perhaps have been a penalty for slashing, but it wasn't worthy of a penalty shot.

The one thing that ticked me off is that he did not hit him in the hand it was right between on the stick which makes it not a penalty what so ever its just like a pokecheck or a stick lift all it was a good play. Now on the other hand the wings played terrible yesterday and did not deserve to win. but for a call like that to occur in the third period when everything is on the line that seemed to me to be a bad call. I have been playing hockey for 18 years now and I have seen much worse not get called a penalty let alone a penalty shot. But theres nothing we can do about it now except pick it up next game(if possible)

I agree 110% I say the refs were taking sides so that why we got the penalty box so many times....  >:(

Yes I played college.  Rules have changed on penalty shots no trip or slash nessecary any play not on the puck that obstructed the scoring chance.  Automatic penalty shot.

Wait a stickcheck, a sticklift, a pokecheck, or even a check is an automatic penalty shot? I believe that that is a wrong statement because all of those are plays are at the puck just not directly. now if he hit his body with the stick yes or if he hit him without the puck yes that is a penalty but no where in that replay did I see him hit his body I saw all stick and if it did hit his body (i did not see) it was minimal. Now if he did hit his hand go on and call that but from the views I saw it looked like nothing. nuff said by me

I agree.  Plus, this is playoff hockey.  Whether or not you agree... the rules are a little different at this time of the year.

Well either way in my opinion that was the correct call.  Howard needed to make a save he wasn't even close.  And they got out played the entire game Chicago defiantly was the better team and deserved that win.  No reason to blame the refs.
