Greenwoods in warren
« on: May 15, 2013, 07:15:29 PM »
Just saw on ABC news that Greenwoods was raided and the owner was handcuffed and carted out on a stretcher after he was found hiding in the basement. There was no heat or electricity for quite some time. All the animals were being taken out and relocated.

Yea, thats too bad.  There was a post on here a couple of months ago about the store and the problems the owner was having.  Wonder if he was having some mental/psychiatric/stress issues that contributed to the neglect.

Well, at least the animals will have some better care now.

I called it about 3 months ago, that is was a ticking time bomb. Sad that it had to happen this way, the fish are the ones who suffered, the other animals can live with out power or running water for a few days.

Wonder when I can go shopping? ;)

What the??? :o That was the owner?? Is is mentally ill?.... or perhaps a drug user? because that looked just plain odd.

yes that is the owner and I do know he had a mairjuna (sp) problem, and I was told he had other substance issues and I do think he had a few screws loose but that's just my opinion.

That's crazy. I had heard that the shop was in trouble for things before but never have been there or paid too much attention to what was actually going on. Weren't there any employees there at all that could have reported how bad it was before this, or was the owner just there by himself?

I used to go there all the time when I was a kid and went there about 5 months ago and the place looked horrible I was wondering when it was going to get shut down regardless if intent of harming the animals was there. There are always places that will take animals in need and I'm sorry to say but there had to be some drug problem to not get these animals help or homes if te business was going under

This was a long time coming... should have happened years ago.

The building needs so much attention... I would not want anything to do with it.

Well Dennis is out of jail and was at the store yesterday.

The news said that someone got into the building during the day and took all the exotic fish so non of the other pet stores wanted to buy the remaining fish.

They showed pictures of his office and his "bedroom" and it looked like a dumpster. I think th land fill by the Palace Look's better on its worst day then his office and "bedroom"

They also said it was more of a raid due to outstanding bills with the county and the city then the animals.

Politics at its best, the guy is a loose cannon and they just turned a blind eye until it was a money thing!!
