Awesome Ron.  How big till they start showing spawning behavior?

From what I've seen, when the males are around 5"-5.5" and the females around 4"-4.5" they start to get interested, but it takes them a few tries to hold successfully. Around that time the males also start showing flashes of their full color - dark black with blue/green highlights.

Thanks Ron.  Sounds like mine might be getting ready too as the make has been flashing his color lately.

Sorry, I stripped 1 female, 7 fry. All are doing well. Im afraid tho cause it was a female that had a quite a bit of white, one of the poor quality ones from my online order. Im gonna grow the fry out tho, to see how the look.

neon jewels finally saved some from the massacre of the community mbuna setup.  Will be the first fry Ive attempted to keep alive and maybe sell or trade in.  I know they are not expensive or challenging to breed but still exciting.

Crenicichla saxatilis wild Uruguay "Las Palmas".  This pair throws over 750 fry per spawn.  Mean as devils, too.
