Title: Detroit Red Wings
Post by: LoveTheFishies on May 23, 2013, 10:59:04 PM
I was a little pessimistic at the start of the Chicago / Wings series.  Boy I am SO glad to be mistaken.  They really seem to have made some great adjustments after the 1st game of the series.

Maybe a Red Wings themed tank at some time.  Red and White fish.  A nice winged wheel.

Go Wings.

After the first game of this series... they have looked great!  Dominate out there on the ice!

Go Wings!!!!

Eureka red peacocks and zebra chilumba maison reef for the red wings tank. I was skeptical going into the series too.I thought Chicago would take them in 5 games, I'm also glad I'm wrong. Go Wings!

They're looking better,  but I'm still seeing some things that I don't like. I'm keeping my hopes up though.

These playoffs in general have been amazing one of my favorites for sure! and if the wings win this series they will have a good chance at winning it all! I'm hoping for a Boston vs. Red Wings final. I know the pens are that good but i just think they are "those guys" that are expected to win and I just dont want that they stack that team so much its amazing with the salary cap that they can have so many stars. I feel like they are the Miami Heat of hockey, just my 2 cents I'll  :-X now

Go Wings!!  ;D

Agree that if the Wings can take this, they have a great chance to go all the way.  The Blackhawks dominated during the season (short as it was), but our young guys have really started to play well in the playoffs.  Can't wait for the next game.

I think it's going to be a very physical game.  Chicago is going to be aggravated.

You could tell how frustrated they were getting last game when their captain had so many penalties.  Zetterberg is doing a good job on him.

Yes it did.  They fell apart to start the third period and never really got going again.

The penalty shot call was absolutely horrible. I'm not saying Detroit deserved to win or lose, but making such a weak call in such a huge game was absolutely ridiculous. It's such a weak call, I'd still be complaining no matter what game it was called in.

That was literally the exact play in which a penalty shot should be called.  Everything that happened during that play justifies the penalty shoot call.  And they straight up got out played anyways.  Even when they were up they looked bad.

Ever played hockey? The defender doesn't have to give up once the forward gets past him. If he'd significantly hooked or tripped him down to the ice I wouldn't argue with a penalty shot. The defender didn't exactly give him a two-handed swing of a slash. I'm also not saying it shouldn't perhaps have been a penalty for slashing, but it wasn't worthy of a penalty shot.

The one thing that ticked me off is that he did not hit him in the hand it was right between on the stick which makes it not a penalty what so ever its just like a pokecheck or a stick lift all it was a good play. Now on the other hand the wings played terrible yesterday and did not deserve to win. but for a call like that to occur in the third period when everything is on the line that seemed to me to be a bad call. I have been playing hockey for 18 years now and I have seen much worse not get called a penalty let alone a penalty shot. But theres nothing we can do about it now except pick it up next game(if possible)

I agree 110% I say the refs were taking sides so that why we got the penalty box so many times....  >:(

Yes I played college.  Rules have changed on penalty shots no trip or slash nessecary any play not on the puck that obstructed the scoring chance.  Automatic penalty shot.

Wait a stickcheck, a sticklift, a pokecheck, or even a check is an automatic penalty shot? I believe that that is a wrong statement because all of those are plays are at the puck just not directly. now if he hit his body with the stick yes or if he hit him without the puck yes that is a penalty but no where in that replay did I see him hit his body I saw all stick and if it did hit his body (i did not see) it was minimal. Now if he did hit his hand go on and call that but from the views I saw it looked like nothing. nuff said by me

GO Wings game 7!!!  ;D

I agree.  Plus, this is playoff hockey.  Whether or not you agree... the rules are a little different at this time of the year.

He hit his hands and waist. Also his rear end.

just saying watch it again. Not even close he hit all stick no where near the rear end.

You can't hit his stick...

Well either way in my opinion that was the correct call.  Howard needed to make a save he wasn't even close.  And they got out played the entire game Chicago defiantly was the better team and deserved that win.  No reason to blame the refs.

pretty soon they will say if a guy is on a breakaway and gets past the blue line the defense will have to stop where they stand

Yep, and oddly enough some people will agree that's OK. I like the way hockey used to be better than what it is becoming.  :-X

They probably need to make penalty shots something that is reviewed in Toronto.  If the Hawks hadn't made the penalty shot, it would have been 3-3 near the end of the 3rd.  Bad call in my opinion.

Tough series.  Would have liked to see a different ending, but they played hard and didn't hand it to the hawks.

Game 7 in OT. hard fought series against a really good team. wings gave the hawks a run for their money.
