New lights ???
« on: April 06, 2017, 07:26:18 PM »
Thinking about new lighting in my fish room . What is the story on LED lighting ? Can I use any LED lights or are there special lights for fish...
I see some with controllers . What about a standard 4" garage LED light. I have florescent lights in the ceiling in my basement over my tanks.

I have used the Home Depot 4', 3' and 2' LED shop lights in my fish room, no issues, they work well and are $30.00 to $40.00 each. The one style is linkable so you can string them together.

I've been switching all my tanks over for the past 2 years now to the "aquaneat" LED fixtures that the CLL place on ebay sells. You can get the 48" fixture for about $30 and the 72" fixture for about $65. They have the full spectrum and blue moonlighting models for that price as well. IMO you just can't beat them for the price. I've had a few of the fixtures for going on 2 yrs now and no issues with them.

I have aquaneat fixtures as well. I like them a lot no issues.  I really like the full spectrum ones with a remote.  I think my six foot light cost under $100 shipped.
