Power outage
« on: March 09, 2017, 01:23:09 AM »
I woke up at 4:00 this afternoon (I work mids) and found the power had been out due to the high winds. Checked my tanks and found most of the fish laying on the bottom of the tank gasping for their last breaths. Luckily I have a generator and got the air pumps and filters running quickly. Within 5 minutes all but 2 were swimming happily. Whew,  I got lucky. By the by, power is still out and no end in sight. It's been 12 hours already.
I still don't know what I'm going to do when I grow up.

Hope you get power restored soon. DTE is saying its as many as 800,000 across the state. Could take up to 3 days to get everyone restored. 2nd largest power outage in Michigan in history. I'm just amazed I didn't lose power. Normally we lose power here if someone just looks cross eyed at the outdated power grid we are on here on this street. Lucked out though and power only flickered real quick one time yesterday. Did have to deal with the neighbors tree though which came down down right across my driveway and yard. Crushed about a 4 yr old Japanese maple and broke a couple good sizes limbs in my 40 yr old crab apple tree that my Grandmother gave me many years ago, but looking on the bright side at least it did not land on the house or truck.

The power is still out. My generator is not big enough to do everything so I'm swapping cords back and forth trying to keep the house warm, the food cold, and the fish alive. I've got the filters and bubblers going, but no heaters. So far, so good. I just hope it comes back on soon.

Looks like you got some free firewood Steve.
