should I leave them with parents
what should I be feeding them

Are the parents kept in a community? 

Feed them baby brine shrimp

parents are in dedicated tanks, 40 breeders

Id leave them with the parents.  If they get eaten, then you know to pull them next time.

Leave them with the parents they should raise a few generations in the same tank.  You can feed them baby brine as Blair said, I usually feed mine decapsulated brine shrimp or diamond pearls at the smaller micron size.
