How old is the 125 gallon tank and has it been patched before with silicone to try to patch the leak?  Also, how difficult would it be to patch this leak in your opinion?

You are a braver man than I if you're thinking of a patch job, especially on a tank this size.  Silicone does not adhere to silicone that's already cured.  If you don't strip off all of the silicone and reseal it, you have a water filled time bomb waiting for the seam to split completely.

Marty,  do you know anyone that does tank reconstruction/ resealing? I have a 120 (4x2x30?) that has a bottom leak. with that much of a "water bomb" i dont want to trust myself to do it.

Sorry, not to interrupt but I figured I'd mention that I saw an ad recently on detroit craigslist for someone that does  tank maintenance, it also said tank re-seals......

Ps.
Man, I can't believe nobody has snapped these up yet.
I would love that 100g but I have no way to move it and my wife would probably freak ;-)
Good luck on the sales.

I have resealed many large tanks...The proper way is to totally disassemble all glass and start with new silicone every where ..Using many razor blades and vinegar to clean glass with no residue ... Have used a wood template to hold the bottom off the floor and duct tape to hold tank to shape in corners.. Good Luck

I was kinda thinking the same thing. Maybe one of the mods can move the discussion part to a separate thread.
