Chlorine is the least of the problem. The other day...word was they were putting strong disinfectants into the system....trying to cleanup some of the sediment that is stuck in the pipes. But doing this, they are dislodging old contaminates into the system. Thus making matters worst. Plus while just patching pipes that are breaking everywhere. You couldn't drive down the streets without seeing water spraying up from breaks in the asphalt caused from another break. The breaks causes the asphalt to break up and expose the ground. When this happens, the ground washes away and you get another hole in the road. I have two holes at the end of my driveway. Can't always miss them...getting deeper. This being caused by running corrosive water through lines that should have been replaced decades ago. I have fixtures in the house that are leaking from the corrosion caused by the water that are only four years old. I hear more of what's going on about the water....that doesn't make the news. Enough to swear off drinking the water. The real problem is the system will never be safe...because they will never replace the whole system.
I want to be able to filter the water before I put it in the tanks. I'm trying to find safe barrels to store water in, to put in my basement for water changes. I looking to put a system in the kitchen for drinking or cooking and maybe to top off tanks. Then something in the basement to filter water for water changes and store it.
