CL prices
« on: September 25, 2015, 08:08:35 AM »
Just read a post for a 55 gallon for $ 250.00,  seller breaks down the price and stated they paid 150 for the tank.   This is nothing new but some of the deals make me shake my head

Being a Canadian you should see what Canadians sometimes ask for their used aquariums... better off just buying new!

CL has always been a good way to buy and sell IMO up until recently. For some reason the past 6 months I just hate to even deal with CL people. I've seen guys lately trying to sell 55g to 75g set up's for $500, 29g set ups for $250, and just insane prices. They think just because they were stupid and bought the set up new from a place that bends them over like Petco/Petsmart then they think the next guy is gonna be just as stupid and overpay as well. And don't even get me started on dealing with CL "buyers"  >:( ???. I've been trying to help a friend sell some stuff lately for his Dad whom just went into assisted living. Some stuff like a good 29g tank and double iron stand I put on there for only $25 which should be an easy sell....yet I get nothing buy morons asking if it's still for sale and saying how they want it, yet never hear back from them.

CL has always been a place where you would expect to deal with some deadbeats but eventually would find what you wanted or sell what you wanted, but lately it's gone down hill fast!

I use craigslist a lot. Buying and selling. I also use a couple classified apps.
People are awful all around. Sellers can't answer simple questions and buyers send low ball offers and ask stupid questions that are clearly in the description....

Part of the problem is that English is usually not the first language for a lot of people around here. Also people just lack common sense, like why would I drive 20 miles out of my way to sell something for $5? Etc...

Very frustrating

Hey, I call or email asking if it's still for sell....there have been so many....so called sellers who don't have the sense to delete their ad or don't know how to delete it ( I guess they can't read...there are directions on those sites telling you how to delete posts....a lot prove they can't even spell...not even with spell checker, but people just don't proof read what they write..some posts here prove that). So bear that in mind if someone calls and ask if it's still for sell?...that could be the customer you're looking for. IJS

I don't mind is they email me asking if its still for sale, but when I reply back "yes it is" and then never hear from them again that's what bugs me. Why would they want to know if it's for sale if they have no intention of getting back a hold of the seller when he tells them it is? Stuff like that is just annoying to me.

I'm with you Steve.  People that text me "is it still for sale", I just want to kick them in their brain until it works properly.  If you see my ad it is still available.   I'm with mike I hate people who do not delete sold ads. They should be kicked also.

Flakes!
I'm getting really pissed off. I keep making arrangements to come look at tanks and next thing I know I get "someone bought it this morning, sorry man, my bad"....... Ugh!

First it was the 115 acrylic setup I told the guy I would buy as soon as he was available and then the 120 glass setup I spoke with the dude at midnight about, he called me, we made arrangements for me to buy today, just messaged him and he said some lady is here looking at it. Wtf...

What ever.

I've had good luck when I call when I can go to the seller's home right then, so there isn't a chance for someone else to get there first.
