« on: June 29, 2015, 10:27:20 AM »
Looking for some more assassin snails as mine are not reproducing fast enough to do the job and I am suffering from snail explosions!

How long have you had the Assassin snails in the tank? Give it time... I had a few tanks with lots of snails and it looked as if they were reproducing at a higher rate than the Assassin snails... Then one day, it was on like donkey kong and the Assassins were breeding like crazy and I got to enjoy watching them devour the nuisance snails. If you're ever in Windsor, pop over and I'll give you a bunch. ;)

I have had them in one tank for months, and the regular snails have started to win.  I have a few other tanks I need some in, so it is time to bring in reinforcements.  I haven't seemed to get them to start breeding, but they are in my fry tanks, so the babies might be being eaten.

How many do  you have per tank to see progress?

I started with a handful of about five. They bury themselves in the substrate but will come out to eat food and nuisance snails... often at night. If I were to guess I'd say that the original 5 I started with easily turned into 30. Always seeing baby Assassin snails in the tank. The only FW snail I like are Assassins.
