Gone. Thanks..

I have 4 very nice common plecos that range in size from a 2" to maybe 5". Very nice looking fish. Fat and healthy, but they are bothering my discus fish, so they have to go.

Just outta curiosity,  do you provide food for the plecos ?  I was experiencing a similar issue in my 180 tank, the plecos were chasing my Peacocks and haps.  Then I started to put in various veggies to feed them and there has not been a problem since.  Try Sweet potato, green beans - french cut (recommended from Betty Oyer), frozen peas, zucchini...

Generally plecos get territorial and some like sucking the slime off fish...which I've been told is caused by some kind of nutrient  lacking in their diet will cause them to do this. My personal experience when a pleco does this one too many times they can end up killing a fish. When this happens I put it in another tank or it goes to the LFS. So, a more variety in diet works. Not all fish are compatible. All fish need to be fed some form of food.

Interesting comments...

My plecos picked clean all the algae in their respective tanks within a week. I tried feeding algae wafers and they totally ignored them.

I feed my discus beef heart flake mix and freeze dried black worms. The plecos would just about attached to the FDBW, pushing out the discus during feeding time, and ate a steady supply of the flake food too. Only the largest pleco actually was bothering my adult discus. Clearly tried to attach to them. The discus more or less swam away and ignored the plecos attempts.

All the plecos had been growing fast in my tanks. Maybe a varied diet would have hepled.

Regardless, they're in a new home now.
