What about a severum tank or  angelfish?  There are some harder to find color morphs.

I would chooze eithe eye btiers or venustus.....the female eye bites may not be colorful, but still are cool.

Its been so long that I checked, I dont really remember.  I just remember that straight from the tap, it was higher side on ph and very hard.

Each are definitely on the list I am going to be deciding upon.

Funny:) Sunfish are very similar to cichlids in many ways even though they are not closely related evolutionarily.
Please forgive my non-cichlid suggestion.
