Tropheus in 145
« on: June 17, 2014, 10:42:45 AM »
I am considering stocking my 145 gallon with Tropheus (not sure which ones).  I am assuming that you cannot have colonies of different species in the same tank due to cross breeding and/or aggression.

Am I correct???

Any suggestions for tank mates with Tropheus other than increasing the group size?

I have always been told if you want two species you can have duboisi and one other and duboisi will not cross breed with any other Tropheus.  I have also been told as long as you don't have two of the same species, ie. barchardi or moorii you should be ok mixing.  I just really started keeping them so someone more expirenced should chime in as well.

I as well as a lot of people put different species in the same aquarium . Some people recomend species only tanks. There is always confusion what Moorii is as sometimes some are listed as Sp red or black and listed else where as moorii.  So... have had people tell me sp red okay with Moorii but i use caution .

I do as Josh stated. Duboisi and one other species (Chimba Reds). I've never seen anything suggesting they could hybridize. They pretty much ignore each other.
