Tropheus Duboisi Question
« on: April 28, 2014, 03:46:39 PM »
I bought a bunch of Duboisi from turtleman (Thank Emil!) they are 2 diffrent sizes.. 1st batch is about 1.25"-1.5"... the second batch are about .75"-1"  I eventually want to combine them into a 90g tank I already have set up for them.  Right now I'm keeping them in 2 -20g breeder tanks. I was thinking of combining them and putting them in a 55g for now until they are ready for the 90g. My question is, will the bigger ones beat up on the smaller guys if I combine them.. I know my moliro don't, but I have never kept duboisi before. Any advise would be great... Thanks.

No worries, I have 50 dubs some small,say.75" to 1"+ in a 150gal and there are zero issues with aggression or battling for food, also have 10 or so of my kachese fry in there with them

My only real concern now is that the 90g has 2 very large HOB filters Emperor 400's cycling about 800gph I think.. I'm worried the little guys wont handle all that water movement well... I think I may head to the LFS and buy a couple of established Pro V sponge filters. He sells them for $12 all ready full of gunk and fully cycled.

On some of the fry tanks that were running hob's, I just took the blue filter pad material and covered the intake. The water movement,in my opinion,is beneficial. In the 150 I have my dubs, kachese in I have a power head going to keep a "current" going.
