catastrophic disaster, 110 gal planted blowout :-(

Well the unthinkable just happened, 110 gals on the hardwood floor in to the basement.

Woke up a couple hours ago thinking the sink was overflowing. Must be a bottom seam, can't see any cracks.

Its all in the basement now, put fish in my 29 gal qtank and covered plants with plastic wrap.

Thank God we were home.

I'm at a loss and don't know what else to do now.

I'll never trust a large glass tank again.
And before anyone thinks it, yes it was level.

Going back to bed now.

That's never a fun thing to have happen:

If that's a Pergo style floor, I'd pull up as much as you can and run as many dehumidifiers as possible to dry things up.

What size level did you put on it to ensure it's level?  I ask because a lot of basement floors have a little bit of a taper toward floor drains depending on when they were built.

It doesn't look like you have any foam underneath the tank, am I wrong?

The level was like a 3 ft long orange one from hd, I returned it after because it was expensive and I was way over budget.

It's a regular 50's style wood floor, most of the water went through and is now on the floor in my basement. I need to go find a mop and bucket today.


I might be done for awhile, I dont know what to do. This tank is stinking up the house and we cant lift it.

It emptied pretty quick , I was in such a panic I didnt think to syphen the water out the door till it was half empty

The 3 ft plastic levels that home depot sell for like 10 bucks right? Ive found out those ones are not really all that great only one side is level also...

Anyone know where I could get a double 40 stand for a good price? Or double 55 stand?

Petco has $1 gal tank right now I think
Or a 4x2 tank?

I dont know what to do. I guess todays plan is to scoop out substrate and move tank outside.

I currently have a 29 gal qtank and a 40 breeder at 75 degrees with 6 odessa barbs


I dont know what stock I should try to rehome and what can live in that 40 I guess I could do a switch a roo and swap out the barbs.

I have 3 pairs of angels, 6 congo tetras, 2 bolivian rams, 4 true siamese algae eaters, bn plecos and one rogue corry cat.

Update:
Got it emptied of dirt and out side.
The glass and silicone look fine but it must be a bottom seal that went bad.

I don't know what to think. Part of me never wants another glass tank in the living room, the other part thinks I should try to get it professionaly resealed or buy a replacment. I can't afford a new acrylic tank. Im super bummed out

Ah okay. That was actually why I was asking where you lived, because I thought I remember that you were not that far from me. I was gonna see if I could make it over to help ya carry it out in the next day or two. Glad you were able to get it cleaned and taken out.

I would get a hold of Blair and ask him for the # of his guy and see what he would charge to come take it apart and rebuild it. From the pic it looks like it's on good shape other wise.

When you set up another tank, make sure that you put Styrofoam between the bottom of the tank and the stand. Just curious, who was the manufacturer of the tank?
