Headed to Lansing...stores?
« on: April 05, 2014, 08:21:42 AM »
Well, i'm going to Lansing for the day on thursday to check out Preuss Pets. Is it worth the trip? Do they have a good selection of adult africans? Decent quality fish? Good prices? And is it also worth driving a little farther and going to the Oyers? Thanks!

Any trip to Preuss is worth it!! Even if you don't buy anything!
Some times you get lucky and they have great deals on their fish, but they are normally a bit pricier than most places. But the quality of their stock is much better too!!

I like to go to Pruess & look. IMO their prices are rediculous.

Definitely worth the extra drive to stop by John & Betty's.   Is there anything special you're looking for?

Yup, i have a whole stock list of male peacocks and haps to fill up my 125! And Preuss is definitely on the list, but still not sure on the Oyers as it is about 2 hours away from me, and I'm not too sure i'd be able to drag the rest of my family along with me lol. So what do you guys think the price would be for like a 4" male at both Oyers and Preuss?

Preuss 40+ Oyers 5 to 20 depending on what it is.
Oyers is far better quality and is worth the trip I drive about 2 hours to get there and would rather go there then preuss.

A 4" peacock  at preuss pets would be 40.00 to 50.00 at oyers there would be less. I know there 2" male peacock are 10.00 each.

I live in Lansing and go to preusses a lot.  Very nice store but outrageously priced.  Last week they had a red dragon 4" male for $100 dollers.  Ridiculous for a hybrid.  They do have a nice selection but short on 3"+ males right now.  I believe they get a shipment in next week.  I would personally go to oyers.  Male peacocks are ten bucks a piece and they have a larger selection then preuss IMO.  If you have time go to both.  I enjoy looking at all of preusses saltwater and they have a new moon jelly display.

Just remember to call for appointment with Oyers. It's not a retail store with hours for the public.

Well, made it to both Preuss and the Oyers today! I was quite impressed with both! The manager at Preuss gave us the behind the scenes tour of their fish business, and i got 3 beautiful fish from Oyers!! It was worth the trip!
