Store closing

Just saw this posted on CL about an hour ago. Tropical fish pond on Woodward in Royal Oak is closing down after 38 yrs in business. I stop in there from time to time, I honestly would not/never have bought fish from him because the tanks are pretty dirty, but from what the ad on CL said they are selling off pretty much everything so might be worth seeing if they have "something" you may need so just passing this along to anyone that might be interested. http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/fod/4271963788.html

I stopped in a couple hours ago. I definitely would not suggest making a special trip that's for sure, but if you are local or in the area and looking for a cheap used tank for the fish room then it's worth stopping in. They are selling all the tanks in the store (including the ones that are up and running). They had a pair of 6ft 100g tanks marked $50 for the one and $100 for the other. Be warned they were D-I-R-T-Y! so need lots of hard water stain elbow grease cleaning, but for the price they might be worth it to someone that wants some larger tanks in the fish room.

I was in this place a few months ago and figured it would be out of business soon almost all the reptile tanks and fish tanks were empty and what they did have was in real rough shape.  Been in there a few times and never saw anyone make a purchase it also smelled horrid.

Went in once 2 years ago when I was setting up my first tank and was amazed he was still in business then.
Dirty store with unhappy looking stock, very surprised he made it this long.

Sad thing is they have been that dirty for many years now. It actually use to be an okay store back in the 70's and 80's. They use to have a huge tortoise named Martin that use to roam the store freely all the time. Lately the owner really let it go down hill over the past decade for some reason. Like I said for sure not somewhere you would want to buy livestock from, but there's a couple good deals on used tank (which would have to be cleaned well before use).

This store is only about 5-10 minutes from my house. I'm in here a lot to buy crickets and occasional supplies. The store doesn't have a very diverse fish section. Some of their supplies may be worth stopping in to check out, though.

I have some funny memories of that place, we used to go there to look at the fish and reptiles when I was a teen.

They have or had a giant enclosure full of constrictor snakes and "the worm" Dennis Rodman  was in there trying to buy one,
the guys said they're not for sale, and Rodman was like can I buy one and just keep it here and visit it every once in awhile?

then he got in his huge white Bronco truck and drove right off the curb and squealed off down Woodward.
