125 gal tank
« on: December 23, 2013, 07:44:29 PM »
Finally after waiting 2 months the tank is up and running. I still need to put plants in, of course my wife wants a say so in that ;D. Only bummer is the center rock was too wide to fit in the tank because of the overflow. I tried chiesling  the rock so it would fit but ended up breaking in 3 pieces. Now I have to shim two pieces with broken pieces so The rock will fit back together. With any luck if the tank clears up tomorrow I'll be paying Bob Stevens a visit. Once I put back together the room and setup the computer I'll take pictures.

I can see the back of the tank, and the water temp is 72. I don't know where it started at hopefully not 72 ;D. What is normal temp for cichlids 78?

I keep mine between 76-78.

What size fish are you looking for Tom?  I have a lot around 1" to 2".

I have found that the warmer you keep the tank the less likely ick will set in when adding fish,  I keep mine between 80 - 82 degrees, but that is because I have clown loaches and they like it a little warmer.

The lower the temp (low to mid 70's) the more likely to bring on ick..

I have also notice that lower temps bring on more sluggish fish, higher temps bring on more active fish...

This is just my observation....

Josh,

I'm probably looking in the 3" range
