Are these eggs ok
« on: December 18, 2013, 07:40:13 AM »
I have had eggs in a tumbler for a few days now. I stripped them from a female that was holding for 3 days. All but one turned a dark color. One is still same shade white as when I stripped them. They are bouncing softly, and constant. I noticed today a couple small white spots on a couple. Are these due to development or is something wrong. Are the dark eggs bad or the one white egg bad. I figured either the one white egg was fertilized and the rest weren't, vice versa.

I haven't bred a huge array of fish but the ones I have bred had eggs that were more like the dark or beige color. If you see fuzzy stuff or mold get those eggs out of there asap before they spread to other eggs.
I have about 18,000 rounds of .223 I'm  looking to get rid of, 100 rd bags. 1-4 bags $40 ea, 5-9 bags $38 ea, 10 or more bags $35 ea. I can't put this in the for sale section, its not fish related. No shipping.

I have looked up a few other pictures of eggs growing in a tumbler. The white spots seems to be on them as well. Must be development.

These eggs are fine.  Infertile/bad eggs will turn white and deteriorate.  Good luck!

Is the white egg maybe an Albino?

Albinos cannot be identified by egg color, so just watch it to make sure it's not bad.

Bad eggs also tend to have a line through them in the center of the egg.

Based upon experience, the one lighter colored egg is most probably infertile.  If it is and you leave it in the tumbler, it's either going to collapse and only the shell will remain or it can easily get fungus growing on it which would threaten the remaining viable eggs.   Good luck!

Pulled white egg and 2 others with a small white spot. They ended up growing fungus in a diff egg tumbler. Have 10 healthy eggs with tails and eyes :)

Thanks everyone.
