That's different.

I don't see why it wouldnt work for bio,  but you get no mechanical filtration at all with that.

Thats what I was thinking. Thought if I were to make this, I would get a bubble bar and an AC110 sponge, insert the bubble bar through the center and let it sit on bottom of this same setup, That way water gets pulled through sponge then hits the K1. What ya think?

Certainly a debatable topic whether it's *better* than a sponge filter. I personally can't see switching.

Would it be better sure you don't have to clean it as often and more surface area on those then a sponge. Cost effective no way. Sponges are cheaper and more practical lets say.

Depends on how much you use and what size you use yeah it would. Ive never used it but that's what the distributor was claiming.

I think the surface area found in a Hydro V would be surprising to most, but very complex to calculate.

A fair assumption would be that the K1 is definitely better than any of the Jungle sponge shapes.
