I used a coralife light

Sand as my substrate with a handful laterite mixed in.

I used a canister filter, remove the carbon.

no heater, but my Apistogramma cacatuoides breed, river water is cold.

I placed Pogostemon erectus in the back.  I planted two narrow leave swords, Echinorodus tenellus in the middle, towards the side.  My friend gave me a rare Cryptocoryne wendtii, which is a great plant for a 10.  I placed one stalk of Telanthera rosefolia (Alternanthera reineckii) against the greens for a contrasting color.  Nesaea pedicellata 'Golden', and Hydrotriche hottoniiflora grow fast.  I planted them to feel successful.  While some plants grow slow.  N. pedicellata ‘Golden’ will make anyone feel like they have a green them.  Lastly, one stem of Rotala magenta was planted in the front corner because it needed a home.

Plants grow without CO2 injection.  CO2 is fun to experiment with, but it is not needed.  I have found that plant growth and fish growth is genetic.
