Detroit Tigers.....Bye Fielder!
« on: November 21, 2013, 03:09:30 AM »
I was Glad and Relieved to have learned Prince Fielder was traded for Ian Kinsler from the Texas Rangers.  ;D Apparently-the Tigers didn't mind removing him from the team for Mr. Kinsler. I believe the Tigers received the Better Deal.   8)  Fielder's marriage problems and divorce...I think may have taken it's Toll on him and affected his ball playing. His post-season comments revealed a man who seemed not to be too concerned about the Tigers loss. Things in life-can change a person's perspective on things. He might like being with the Rangers and it may work out well with him/

The Tigers new player-is what they needed...good defense....and batting power. Will have to see how it all develops. I am happy the Tigers have Kinsler on their team now. We will see how things turn-out when the Battle Begins next year--hopefully Miggy will back to his old slugger self!!   :)

It's good to know-that presently Max S. is still with the Tigers...great pitcher. Don't mind if Porcello is traded.  8)

Like most... I was aggravated with Fielder.

But, not sure I like this trade.  The biggest plus would be the freeing up of money.

We loose a big bat for a mediocre bat.  Do get a good second basemen, but not THAT good.

We shall see.

How many more walks do you think Cabrera will get next year?

Funny how we can saw that Miggy had an off year an hopefully be back to himself next year.

Look at his numbers.  There isnt a team in the league that wouldnt die to have a player perform like he did on an OFF year.   8)

Remember Miggy won (2) MVP's with Fielder batting behind him.  During the regular season Prince was an asset, but during the playoff he was a liability.  This is a BRILIANT move by D.D. it not only brings in a bonified leadoff hitter, it shores up the middle IF for the next 5-7 years, it also bring more speed to the team and more flexibility in the lineup.  Miggy cannow play either 3r or 1st or DH, Martinez can now play 1st and DH.  Now our top prospect Nick Castellanos can now go back to 3rd.

My opinion is that this is just the beginning.  D.D. will more than like go out and get a big stick in LF (Carlos Beltrán).

BUT - the most important thing this move does is it frees up $$ to sign Max Scherzer for the long term....

Just a Briliant move !

I like the move, fielders numbers have been on a decline for a few years now. The move was a big one but that's what happens when your in a pennant race every year. Bold moves and decisions. I take it v-mart will move up to the 4 spot?
I have about 18,000 rounds of .223 I'm  looking to get rid of, 100 rd bags. 1-4 bags $40 ea, 5-9 bags $38 ea, 10 or more bags $35 ea. I can't put this in the for sale section, its not fish related. No shipping.

The organizations does something exceptional (trading Fielder) and they sign Phil Coke.  At least it isn't guaranteed money for Coke.

Go Tigers!!!

Obviously the coaching staff sees something in Coke, he is young and he needs to be coached up better and not just throw the ball over the plate everytime....It is OK to throw balls, in fact that might be why Max is so dominant sometimes he throws them "Just a bit outside" and the batters know this !

Just read this !   Very Interesting to say the least, explains a lot.

"If what Denny McClain just said at 8am this morning on a radio station in Grand Rapids is true, my opinion completely changes. He suggested that a "former" player was in the middle of Prince's domestic issues this year. They asked if he was suggesting Avisail Garcia and he responded, "Why do you think he was traded?" He also said players knew what was going on and kept it from Prince. When he found out about the issue and that teammates were keeping it from him, he mentally checked out. Couldn't deal with the lack of trust at home and in the clubhouse. "

Interesting.

I'm not even much of a baseball fan, but I'm glad he's gone because it seemed like he just didn't care much based on his statements to the media.

I LOVE the move. I saw they posted this was about to happen over on the Tigers website yesterday morning but it was not official at that time and I thought right off the bat "I hope this is not just a rumor" and thankfully it was true.

Prince was a likable guy in his first year, and his regular season numbers were pretty good, but post season numbers suck big time. We've made it to the post season without him so what we wanted from him were post season numbers to help us and he just was not a post season type hitter, never was. So that $140 million was not a good investment.

The pros of trading him far outweigh any cons. By trading him with get a more "consistent" hitter, we free up money to be able to resign our Cy Young winner Max, we have Miggy up for contract in 2015 so this could be a move with resigning Miggy in mind. Miggy can now go back to 1st base where he belongs, Kinsler at 2nd and most likely a new 3rd baseman pickup, then with Iglesias now at shortstop I think our infield is going to be MUCH better now than it was this previous season. Not to mention the fact that we need some speed which Prince obviously had zero. Kinsler adds a bit more speed to our runners so now with Kinsler actually a guy that can steal a bag that's a new tool we have been lacking. Prince was very prone to striking out as well. Sure a big HR at the right moment is a good thing, but Princes HR's numbers this year were not what we expected from him either. Add in the fact that the guys attitude SUCKED big time and that is just pouring $140 mil down the drain if you ask me.

This move so early in the off season, as well as getting rid of ol' mumbles shows that DD and Illich are gonna do everything they can to get us back to the World Series in 2014 and I love that they are being so aggressive. It's still super early in the off season with a lot of trade/talks to be made I'm sure so I agree that there will most likely be another new power bat in the line up from somewhere before spring training.

And yes it was Avisail Garcia that cheated with Fielders wife, that was actually posted on the Tigers website in the message boards a long time ago. It was just a rumor at first on the Tigers message boards but then it poped up in a few other places and 2+2=4 so I'm pretty sure that was the reason Garcia was traded in such a hurry.

Do you remember when Dennis Rodman was caught out in the Palace parking lot with a gun !  It's the same thing.  Vinnie Johnson was "seeing" Dennis' wife and he found out....
