archocentrus sajica questions
« on: October 21, 2013, 10:56:20 PM »
so far what ive read is that they are pretty much like a convict since theyre pretty much cousins. the maximum size is 5" and theyre peaceful on their own but aggressive when spawning. this is pretty much a generic description of most cichlids so does anyone have any experience for the "new to new worlds" guy here. ive been growing them out for a few months and actually moved the larger 3 into the 125v with the africans (they started eating my growout fry). i have 8 total and when they all get bigger can i put them in with the africans or are these too timid? ive never kept convicts so i dont know how fiesty these guys can be. i was also kicking around the idea of turning the 55 into a tank for them. will they demolish plants if i try to make it a planted tank?
I have about 18,000 rounds of .223 I'm  looking to get rid of, 100 rd bags. 1-4 bags $40 ea, 5-9 bags $38 ea, 10 or more bags $35 ea. I can't put this in the for sale section, its not fish related. No shipping.

They won't demolish the plants,  but they will uproot them with their digging.  A 55 would be a great tank to let them have. Although I suspect you'll end up with two pairs. (One on each side)

Plants better be anchored down really well.

You could try some Buenos Aires Tetras (10min) But they'll probably end up getting slaughtered over time.

I wouldn't put the archocentrus sajica in with the African cichlids.  There not as mean as cousins.
