Beta help
« on: October 10, 2013, 02:39:43 AM »
Other than my cichlid tanks I have a 29g beta tank and a 10g beta tank. They both have been healthy for months, but I just noticed yesterday my beta in my 29g has been laying on the bottom of the tank. Seems somewhat okay, but laying around mostly and his abdomin (sp) seems swelled a bit. I looked online and it says with what he has he should have a "pinecone" look to his scales if it was a known beta issues they talk about, but he does not have that. I really thought he would not make it through the night last night, but today he's still around and seems okay when I "make" him move, but other than that he lays on the bottom,

Anyone have any ideas whats up with him maybe? My niece named him mango because he's orange and purple so I'd hate to lose him, but I am kind'a lost how he was 100% fine one day and next just laying around like he is??

Try this site: http://www.bettafish.com/

They have a pretty comprehensive help section and are very friendly and knowledgeable about common issues.

Well I lost him this morning. I also lost one of the small clown loaches I had just bought last week and put in there as well. Yet at least now I know why. Because the remaining clown loach is covered in white spots. So those two 2.5" clowns I bought from Atlantis last weekend must have had ich >:( That's the 2nd time I've got a fish with ich from them.

So there's still one clown and 5 tetras in that tank. I just pushed the heat up to about 85f...is there anything else I should do or heat alone going to be enough?

Acclimated the exact same way I did my other clowns I got from my normal fish shop which never had problems.
