It was a crazy game man. They sucked for 5 innings, then finally a blup by Fielder and then a single and Johnny P with a much needed homer. Then watching Max load the bases with NO OUTS only to strike out the next two and then fly out the 3rd hitter to get out of the inning without a run scored after bases loaded no outs...just wow. Then the HR was reviewed, jackson finally getting that broken bat single for a rib after 10 strikeouts, I could go on and on but lets just say that was one of the best games as well as one of the most stressful I have seen all season.

I'm just glad tomorrow is an off day because my blood pressure could not handle two games in a row like that  ;D

And now, Verlander !!! ???

I hope he pitches like his last game, instead of the rest of the season.

Yep I can finally breath a bit now. Really great to see Alex get that HR and start his bat again the past game or two. If we take this game then Boston is in BIG trouble because JV starts Tuesday.

Tie game now and why....because yet again that stupid ass old man Leyland overmanages the pitchers and took Max out before he should have. Moron moron moron!

And game over and lost. That was a game we had in the bag and yet again because of Leyland and his irrational need to pull pitchers before they give him a real reason to do so, as well as his constant pitcher parade he trots out every 8 & 9th innings in games we lost.

I swear no matter if we win or lose everything this year....even as big a Tiger fan as I am, IF Leyland is still there next year I will not go to or watch another game until he is gone. I just can't take watching a skipper waste so many good performances and losing games because of the moves he makes.

** It was a gut wrenching loss!!  :( That relief pitcher...Bad Pitcher Benoit...really is pathetic!! Appx...Three days ago-the Tigers were leading by 4-runs...he comes in and immediately gives 2-back before ending the game!! That's Bad!! I really don't trust him at all!!  >:(  The Tigers had that game all-wrapped-up and would have been returning back to Detroit with a 2-0 lead...but Noooo.....Benoit makes sure that doesn't happen!! I couldn't understand why Leyland changes the pitchers....the one Benoit replaced was doing good---took him out and in came..."the one who threw the game away".!! I would Not Doubt his team-mates are Not toooo happy with Benoit.!! Reminds me of when Valverde went bad and threw games away!! That pitcher needs to be pitched into the delete file!!  8) Now--it's back to the start again--Leyland doesn't seem to accept responsibility for his actions. "Well, it's the play-offs"...he replies....hey-how about YOU messing up!!  :( I knew that guy was -dangerous- and a home run hitter--he proved me correct!! That Grand Slam really hurt the fans and team members. I wouldn't want to be in Benoit's shoes.....that................ pitcher.  :o **

It brings back flash backs of Fernado Rodney,Papa Granda, Todd Jones.

Leyland puts to much faith in the "closer" when they dont need him.

Leyland's problem is he's too damn stuck on pitch counts and lefty/right match ups. The main issue I have with him is he overmanages the pitching staff. Just like last night, I fully put 100% of that loss on Leyland. Max was only at 108 pitches, he was completely dominating the Sox hitter and had a no hitter going till the bottom of the 6th were he gave up a single and double. Your ahead by 5 runs, it's bottom of the 6th, your ACE is on the mound and been un-hitable the entire game, he's only thrown 108 pitches. WHY in Gods name would you pull him at that point to go to a bullpen which every Tigers fan watching has known all year is "shaky" at best.

Then not only do you go to the shaky bullpen, but you change pitchers every damn hitter for no reason at all.  Take a look at the pitch counts that moron used after taking Max out of the game...

Veras -- 3 pitches
Smyly -- 6 pitches
Alburquerque -- 8 pitches
Benoit -- 8 pitches
Porcello -- 9 pitches

When you run a parade of pitchers out there your' bound to find at least one or two that are having an off night.  With Max at only 108 pitches and as dominating as he was he should have been left in there for at least one more inning, maybe even two more depending on how he felt. When you have a pitcher doing what he was doing on the mound you leave him in till he gives you a REASON to pull him out. Not because of the sequence of pitchers you like on paper (which BTW fails about 65% of the time). Never pull a pitcher that is doing well just because you have a "set up man".

Pitch counts have ruined baseball, Jim Leyland is way to pig headed in buying into this whole crap that pitchers should stay around 100 pitches. Back in the older day pitchers use to throw almost 250 pitches, even as recent at the 80's a pitcher pitched until he got tired and started giving up runs. Today a pitcher gets yanked at about 100-110 even if he is doing really well, that's BS. I'm not saying to go 200 pitches, but this is the playoffs, 130-140 pitches is not unreasonable, you don't pull a pitcher that is pitching like Max was for any reason other than he's not pitching well, and he was still pitching one of the best games I had ever seen. In the 80's do you think sparky would have pulled Jack Morris out just because he was at 108 pitches?? NOT.

As you can tell I am not a Leyland fan and I've been saying for the past 6 years that we win games despite Jim Layland, not because of him. Yet I honestly believe we will never win another World Series until Leyland is gone.

I'm still fuming over his bonehead moves last night as you can tell.

And while were on the subject of pigheaded Leyland  ;D Just another example of how pigheaded and stupid that old coot is. CHANGE THE FRIGGIN LINEUP ALREADY!! I like Jackson, always have, but he's been striking out all over the place for the past 4-6 weeks...why is he still in the leadoff spot? He's got a guy with a .100 average leading off, and then a guy that carried a .342 average (Infante) hitting in the #8 slot...WTF??? If he would simply swap them with how much Omar gets on base and Miggy, Prince, V-mart batting behind him I would wager a bet we'd have at least 1-2 more runs per game...but nope, Jimmy boy is to pigheaded yet again.

And can someone please tell me why in Gods name he continues to play Don Kelly in post season games????????

There...I feel a bit better now lol
