Gotcha, that is a pretty good idea! i'll think about it!! I really want to breed something cuz its nice getting a little bit of money back, but maybe some of my other tanks! Can anyone come up with a good stock list? I'm really open for anything, i just want some nice color! I would really like some red empress though and maybe lemon jakes, but they arent necessary.

Well maybe you'd do 2 bigger sections and a smaller section for say a dwarf mbuna or smaller hap.  I dunno just an idea I don't no how it would work lol.

Tank looks great,  are you still looking for a stock list ?

Some advice I got when stocking my tanks, don't mix like colored fish, try to keep as wide a variety of colors as possible to curtail aggression in the tank.

I just started looking through various species listings and picked out the fish I liked the best and then went on a fish hunt.

To me the hunt is what is the fun part of this hobby !

Good luck with your new tank...

Thanks! And yup i'm still looking for a list. I've been looking on cichlid-forum.com and finding the fish that look cool to me, so i'll hopefully start buying trios of what I have picked out! I'm just trying to find my limit of how many fish i can get. I'm thinking 20, could i do more or should it be less?

I f you go by the 1 inch rule,  you could get away with 25 5" fish if doing a show tank...But since you will be breeding fish that changes as they will mark out territories once breeding. so between 15 - 21 depending on how many trios you get.  Look up Oyer's on this forum they have a very extensive selection of both Haps and Peacocks.   However I heard that they were thinking about moving to Ohio, not sure if that has occurred yet or not..

Good luck !

Gotcha, thanks! And yeah i'll probably be doing a few fish that are bigger than 5" so i think 20 is probably my max.

the sand with the light colored rock make a good contrast with the black background. whats the background made of?
I have about 18,000 rounds of .223 I'm  looking to get rid of, 100 rd bags. 1-4 bags $40 ea, 5-9 bags $38 ea, 10 or more bags $35 ea. I can't put this in the for sale section, its not fish related. No shipping.

Well, its been close to a year since I've set up this tank! I decided to make it an all male tank instead of trying to do breeding groups. So far the stock is:

3 Red empress (hopefully getting rid of 2 soon)
Mylochromis Ericotaenia Manda
Otopharynx Lithobates
Lethrinops Mbawa Blackfin
Placidochromis Phenochilus Tanzania
Placidochromis Electra
Ruben Red Peacock
Aulonocara "Red Dragon"
Cyrtocara Moorii (I'm thinking this one might be a female, so it may be replaced too)

Looking to get many more, including:
Aulonocara Lwanda
A. Baenschi/Maleri
German Red peacock
Lemon Jake Peacock
Copadichromis Trewavasae
Protomelas sp. "Steveni Taiwan"
Some species of Synodontis
And maybe some other big cichlids like a Rostratus, or Nimbochromis

Just thought I'd update, pictures to come hopefully soon!
