I picked up four orange chromides today. They were sold as 'red chromides' and the girl didn't know entirely what they were because she told me last week they didn't still have them (and I had seen them at the store several months back - Twins in Southgate).
I was debating chromdies + knight goby (or similar) vs. some native fish, and opted for these brackish cichlids since I only had to 'collect' them from a store instead of getting permits and catching the fish myself...maybe I'll try that down the road a bit.
They seem healthy. They've been in freshwater so far.
I plan to convert them slowly to brackish...much more slowly than I tried with the figure 8 since that didn't work. Mostly I want to switch them because I've read the orange variety does not breed in freshwater. I also hope to end up with a pair.
