125 gallon, crack in corner, big risk?
« on: July 11, 2013, 08:27:57 PM »
The title says it all, i checked out a 125 gallon today, and it was a great deal, but we noticed a crack in the corner of the tank, inside the glass. We didn't buy it because we werent sure what to do. What do you guys think? Is it worth the risk?

Its about the height of a quarter.

Personally, I wouldnt take the chance on any crack or chip... especially on a tank of that size.  that is a lot of water to have end up on your floor.  And... I wouldnt want to run the risk of killing a couple hundred $$$ of fish once you get it stocked.

Agreed, they did great work on my windshield...both cars, same week last year.  ;)

As far as the tank, I've risked it on like a 10 or 20 gallon but that big a tank is too risky as others said.  There are always other deals.  People always getting out of the hobby and such, just wait a month or so.  (Time frame depends on where exactly you live - if closer to Detroit or another major city there's always deals, less so if out in a more rural area).

i say screw it. just buy it and run it til you come home from work to a huge flood. alright seriously though cracks are never good. grazes and scratches, ok, but no cracks. that's a water damage insurance claim waiting to happen. especially a 125, that's a lot of water. you made the right choice and walked away. it'd probably be a great reptile enclosure though.
I have about 18,000 rounds of .223 I'm  looking to get rid of, 100 rd bags. 1-4 bags $40 ea, 5-9 bags $38 ea, 10 or more bags $35 ea. I can't put this in the for sale section, its not fish related. No shipping.
