Few pics from the memorial weekend
« on: May 28, 2013, 01:02:44 PM »
Few pics from the Au Sable from the past few days. The real heartbreaker was the 16"-18" Rainbow that I worked for 15mins to hook on a dry fly only to have him turn and peel off 50+ft of line and break off once he was into my backing. At least I have his address now for the next trip. I found him in a section that gets almost zero angler pressure because it is a 2 mile hike back in over some hills and gets no trout plants whatsoever so there are not as many fish in that section, but the ones that are there are bigger and wild. I will be back many times to that spot over this summer for sure.

BTW- if you head up north this year be sure to do a tick check on yourself and your pets every day. They are the worst I have ever seen them up there in 40 years :-[ Creepy little buggers.

Nice pike!

I bought my license back in March ... still haven't gotten out.  :-\

Good luck on the special spot. IME those kinds of places last for a few years until enough people have found it and don't keep the information private. Then there's a run on the place and it gets fished out.
