What kind of mix is this Victorian Hap?
« on: May 15, 2013, 07:43:50 AM »
Well... I bought this as a Christmas Fulu a while ago.  It was explained to me that it was not.   Oh well I guess.

As I have no intention on breeding it... I am ok with it as it is a nice looking fish.

I took it out of our peacock tank as it was too aggressive and causing all the peacocks to color down and hide.  It has been doing real well in our mixed tank.

But lately it has completely changed color and now looks like this.

I noticed last night that it was chasing around the other Victorian Hap in the tank and also the Venustus. Both larger than him, especially the Venustus.  Almost some lip lock action going on.

What do you think it is a mix of?  Just curious.

If it's a hybrid then it's basically a guessing game. You may be able to narrow down the main traits to a particular species.  But there isn't a guarantee on the other species That's mixed in.

The most knowledgeable Vic guy here, IMO, is KevinB.  But I'd suggest finding the seller & asking.

I know now it's a mutant, and the guy I got it from will have no idea.  >:(
Live and learn.

Realistically, I don't care.  It's a cool looking fish and I will hang on to him.

Just curious as to what people thought it looked like.

Does have some similarities!  Might be partially what the mix is.

Thanks
