My 85 gallon Peacock tank (update 12-27-13)
« on: January 25, 2013, 04:42:48 PM »
Figure its time to post a picture or two.  These first are just cell phone pictures.

These are from a few weeks ago or so.

This one is a little more recent.

And also a picture of our faded out Frontosa.  I sure hope it grows out of this.

And the bushy nose.

Nice Ken. At first I thought that was one big piece of wood, but I'm guessing it is multiple pieces? Looks good.

Yeah,  there are about 6 pieces of different sizes.  That way I can switch things up.

The Christmas Fulu was showing off for someone.  Always has color, but not usually this much.

Ignore the flakes floating in the tank, just fed them.

Nice tank, but just as a "heads up", the fish you have shown as your christmas fulu is definitely not xystichromis phytophagus. If I had to guess I would say it is a hybrid. Looks to be a cross between Hap. Sp. 44 and something else, maybe some type of nyererei. Unfortunately I seen several fish labeled as christmas fulu at the last mca auction that were likely hybrids as well.
Here are a couple pics of what a christmas fulu should look like.

Looks like an Haplochromis sp. "#44" thickskin to me.  Not a Christmas fulu.

That's OK.  I kinda thought it was a cross when I got it.  I'm not breeding anything in this tank, so as long as it looks good... I am OK with it.

I do try not to buy crosses, but this one will slip.

Thanks for the info.
