We had one fry survive!  Saw it last night.

Didn't see it for more than a week.  Guess that's why it survived.

I have alot of holey rock in my 69g bowfront, and had 2 fry make it when I couldn't get mama out.  It's been 3 weeks, so the quick and smart survive.

They have been moved to a 150 gallon tank and some clown loaches added as tank mates.

The color of the two males is already increasing with just a tank change.

Congrats.

Thanks.  Going to use the hang on baby tank this time.  See if we can get some to survive.  They were all ate last time due to my own stupidity.

I really need to get some new pictures and maybe video after a water change.  All 3 males were as colorful as I have seen!

They are loving this new 150 gallon tank!!

They dont like clown loaches, I think.  Lost 2 females from what I think is stress.  Took the clowns out as soon as it was noticed.  One female died the next day and one last night.

Tank seems to be doing better.

The holding female had 8-9 fry.  So... hopefully they all survive.  They are in a 20 gallon by themselves now.

Congrats Ken.  I wonder of that is normal brood size.  I get about the same out of my "Red Caps".

Our first one.. might have been the same female... cant really tell.... had 6.  But those all were ate in my failed experiment.  >:(

These are still pretty small.  Females are 2-3".  3" would be pushing it... close to 2".  Males are 3" and all three really starting to show some great color.  Cant wait for them to get bigger.

We'll probably keep any females and the males will have to find a new home.

Well... another female holding.

But, we lost a male.  We dont get it.  He started breathing hard one day and was dead the next.

We put the 8 or so fry/barely juvenile into the 150 with the adults.  So far so good.  All survived the night.

The holding female is now in the 20 gallon by herself and there are still a batch of fry in the "overflow" holding tank on the side of the 20 gallon.

Hopefully all goes well!
