My tanks
« on: January 06, 2013, 09:03:52 PM »
Here is a very bad video of my tanks,  probably play on mute as my son is screaming at some parts.  Also this was done on my phone because I couldn't get our nice camera to work so half the video is side ways...  Ill try and do a better one when I get some time but at least you'll get to see some fish even if there side ways.

I hope to do some updates when the racks are all done and when I add more stuff and get some breeding going.

Ill do a quick tank and rough stock list

15G tall (QT as of now)

-12xred hump geos (from Frenchie)
-1x rotkeil F (I hope)

60G
6xrotkeil
1xclown loach (had a group lost a few that size to a bad case of ich)
1xyoyo loach
1xsqueker cat
3x geo rio
1x geo dameon
4xred head geo
1xgreen severum
1xrainbow cichlid F
1xchocolate cichlid
1x geo surinamensis
1x Uaru
2x geo brasilis brasiliensis
1x silver hatchet fish
(sure I missed something)

55g (mbuna)

8xrusts
8xelectric yellows
5x pseudotropheus elongatus likoma
4xpolit
6xwhite lab
3xLabeotropheus trewavasae
4xneon jewels (both pairs fry about once a month)
11x tiger barbs
1xscarlet pleco

10g
30-40xneon jewel fry

10g empty

20G T (second QT tank for now)
4x super red severums
1xEBJD that will not grow at all

40B (empty just need a couple sponge filters and I will set it up)

90G
1xrotkeil
1xsynspilum F
1xfestivum
1x 7 strip frontosa (dont no anything else about it)
2xtin foil barb
1xWC blue acara
1xWC Satanoperca jurupari

I always have plans that never go through and tanks I'm gonna buy/set up that never happen, so Ill post another update when it starts to come together a little more.  Im defiantly going to start to focus on breeding a bit.  I may start with the pseudotropheus elongatus likoma as they are about breeding size and I have 4 f and 2 males.  After that I defiantly want to to severums but I doubt they will pair off for at least a few more months.  Will also probably attempt my rainbow cichlids in the near future, as Im pretty sure I have a M and F.

Thanks for watching!

Good to meet you today btw.  Did you get your rainbow cichlids from Fins?  I'm hoping mine will breed eventually.  I've finally got them in a big enough tank they should have space for a territory.  If that doesn't work I'll try one of 7he pairs by themselves.

Yup got them from fins they are defiantly breeding size from what I've researched.  The one I believe to be male who is in the 90g is about an inch larger.  When I get things sorted out here I will defiantly be putting them in a tank by themselves and see what happens.

Here's a little update after the auction.

I added 2 29 gs and filled the 40b and the second 10g

There's 10 raspberry head severums and 10 redIstlanum in 1, and 4 red top hong I in the other kind of a qt or now.  The 10g I decided to move the 12 red hump geos into because I was reading they would breed at a little over an inch so I'm going to see if I can get some fry befor they need a larger tank.  The 40b has the sa stock that was in th 60 g living room tank.  The 55g Is empty awaiting the group order fish for qt.  the 55 living room tank now has the mbuna and the 15 g now has 5 dwarf fire haps? And a single brevis.

Here's a couple pics will get a vido up when the group order comes in.

Update 1-27-13

Things are moving along nicely towards my goal of doing some more breeding.  I paired my rotkeil with a female and they are slowly adjusting some slight signs of breeding activity but nothing to write home about yet.  My mbuna tank is moved and with the move my  I have 1 pseudotropheus elongatus holding and also a rusty holding, there is also breeding activity with my red top hongi and my polit.  I moved the two holding females to a 29 g for now I dont plan to strip I have no idea how long they have been holding either I need to pay attention to that tank more.  It was also not fun at all trying to catch 2 holding females in the community tank.

I dont believe my red hump geos will spawn in the 10g there has been zero signs of breeding except the dominate male is showing some nice color.  Maybe they are not mature or the tank is to small who knows but I may abandon this project as it is not a priority of mine.  I noticed at least 1 pair forming with my smaller rotkeils in the 40 B.  I am currently in the process of clearing out my 90 G so all my grow outs can go there to pair up and then can be moved.

I believe I am trying to many "projects" at the same time as I see myself running out of room very very fast.  I may have to focus on just a couple and just let nature take its course when breeding occurs in the the community tank or the grow out.  I feel myself getting in over my head as I already have no open tanks for fry.  I have have to sell some fish, as I can see housing 30 some severums and 30 or 30 geos long term as being a problem, and that's just the geos and severums.   I have an empty 29 and 55 g with double iron stand but just no where to put them right now also I don't have filters, heaters lights and lids for them.  and Also my wife is starting to get pissed I see no more tanks in the for see able future.

(I'm using this as sort of a general blog, I still plan to make a more detailed thread on the rotkeils when I get some time.)
