Reusing Sand
« on: December 28, 2012, 01:05:39 PM »
I'am going to set up some used tanks this week end. Some had sand I would like to reuse the sand. Should I clean this sand, or will a quick rinse due.

As long as you are using seeded filter/media I'd just thourghly rinse it.

As long as you trust where it came from, certainly wash it and put it to use.

If it might be harboring disease, parasites, undesirables (malaysian trumpet snails, etc), I'd use it outside and get some new sand for the tanks.

If you want some New Pool filter sand, I have a few bags I can hook you up with, if you want darker sand or black sand there is a place that some one posted on another site that carries it

look in the building supplies sections, they are very cheap
