Couple new fish

Just got home with a pair of Labidochromis sp. Mbamba. I've been wanting some of these for a long time and the LFS finally got a few in 8). Just floating them right now and doing a PWC so soon as they are in and settled I'll post some pics.

Those are really cool - I've never understood why they aren't more popular, like the electric yellows or various zebras.

Beautiful fish and one of my favorites. They breed nonstop for me and the male is extremely aggressive and vicious on his females during breeding so you might want to add three or four more for him or she might end up too stressed

I think I might just do that nismo, because even the female of these are actually nice looking IMO. Not quite as colorful as the male is, but for a female they do have pretty nice blues on them. So I think I may go back and get at least 2 more females for him.

Couple more pics now that they have calmed down. The red zebra was not getting along well with them at first, but a couple hours of blackout and blanket over the tank and now they seem to be doing much better.

Picked up another pair of female Mbamba today as well as a nice 4" Cherry Red Zebra to go with other zebras I have in there. I'm really happy with the way this tank came out stock wise now, very colorful, very active and the fish are using all levels of the tank from top to bottom, and so far outside of some minor chasing and one small nipped tailfin evenyone seems to get along pretty well for the most part.

I'll post some picture of all the new fish when I get a chance.

Now that this one is done I can turn my attention to starting work on a "big" tank hopefully after the holidays.

Nice tank, I've never used sand before. What kind of sand is that, and what filter are you using. Thanks Johnny.

I use quickrete paver sand from Home Depot which comes in 50lb bags for $3.49 a bag. If you get the "fine" grit it is pure white, or the "medium" grit which is a natural tan color. This tank I did pure white and my Peacock tank I did a mix of 75% white & 25% tan.

This tank I am using a Rena XP3 with 2/30ppm pads and 2/40ppm pads,  Matrix media, and then quilt batting in the top basket.
