odd leaking tank
« on: November 11, 2012, 07:27:59 PM »
Ok so this evening I got a call from one of our customers to come look at there tank because they think it is leaking. Where they found water is between the stand and under the tank...
So first thing I do is open up there stand and look around the black trim and feel around the lip of the stand all that on the inside is dry. They said they added some water to it last night and could of spilled some down the front and it could of got in the small gap. So I ask if there wife has a blow dryer or a shop vac to blow or suck out what we can seemed to clear it up checked about 45 min later water is back but its all dry under it still. Only other thing I can think is its just moisture from the wet dry. Anyone have any ideas.

The tank is either a 150 or 180 didn't pay too much attention.

IMO, the two you've already mentioned would make the most sense.

One time I worked IT at a hospital and had a doctor who complained his computer was "breathing". Upon going to his office to see it in person and clarify what he meant, sure enough it was making "breathing" noises from the speakers. He had multiple windows open in the web browser and one of them was on a Star Wars page. The sounds were of Darth Vader's breathing ...
Sometime people complain about ridiculous problems where they are the only ones to blame.  ;) I wouldn't be surprised if it was spilt water inside the lip of the frame.

I told them blow it out again and if it comes back by 8 when there lights should be turning off I will come and look some more. Im just going to have to man up and see if it taste like salt or not since they topped off with RO water... This might make a long night.

Yeah, dealing with some of these people who have never kept a tank and just jump right into saltwater blow my mind with some of the stupid shit they do. I've got one lady who set up a tank and here tank just recently crashed again. Ive been telling here for 3 months now she needs to change her water and says she cannot afford to do the 2 gallon water change. so this weekend she decided to do one but used table salt for her salt of choice to make water with... No wonder why her stuff keeps dying.

I offered to come out there and changed her tank out from saltwater to fresh and we will just fill the tank with guppies.

So far no phone call.

Right we've talked about it. It would be interesting to watch me crush peoples hopes of buying stuff fromthe store for cheap. It would be a mix of tanked and like pawn stars where people want a lot of there hybrid cichlids or there sick ass tangs then get pissed when I tell them I don't give cash and don't want there fish.

Its kinda like the guy last night who said he wanted the big long nose hawkfish we had for 25 bucks when we paid 20 for it and wanted the platinum clown for 20 bucks. I asked if he was serious or just trying to rip off the wrong person. He was serious then got seriously pissed.

Years ago when I was temporarily laid off from my job I was working part time at Highland Tropical.
We had this PITA guy that always, I mean always felt the need to beat you down on a price.
He came in one night and tried tricking the girl that normally worked only the bird side into selling him a large wild caught adult black calvus as a cheap bread and butter fish listed on the tank. She told him he had to wait to talk to me or Bob about it the next day. He came in bragging how he almost got over on her.
Needless to say, he no longer received ANY discount on fish...at all.

Yeah we have guys that come in like that. They makes tons of money working at dow but still think they need to try to beat you up on price. If you are getting a lot of stuff ill normally cut you a break here and there but if you come on and are just rude about it I'm not working with you.

Hell we have one guy who always trys to steal saltwater from us by saying his 7 gallon jugs are really 5 gallons.
