Pike Cichlid set up
« on: September 26, 2011, 03:59:23 PM »
Here is a photo of my pike Cichlid set up.  I am working on getting photos so that you all can help me ID them.  This is a 90 gallon tank.  The plants are dwarf sag (even the taller ones) and java moss on the one piece of wood.  Every piece of wood is hollow or just part of a piece of wood so that there are several caves for the fish.  The filter is a fluval 404 canister.

The fish are adults at about 11-12" long for the male and 7-8" for the female.  I have been doing a 30-40 gallon water change every week.  The female is starting to get a nice pink belly.  I am hoping that they will breed for me.

I don't even see any cichlids, but that tank looks amazing!

They didn't like it when I took out the big eye (camera) and went into hiding.  Here is a bad shot of them before they noticed I had the camera.  This is a side shot from the right end of the tank.  When I approach the tank, it is from this side and they follow me to the front of the tank.

Crenicichla lucius.  Males grow very long dorsal and anal fin streamers.  Nice pair.

Thanks.  I posted some better picks (still not great) under New World Cichlids.  Both photos are of the same fish.  He is over 5 years old.  The last owner got them as adults 5 years ago.
