Hurricane Sandy "hammers" Disney cruise ship
« on: October 29, 2012, 01:36:44 PM »
Hopefully, this storm doesn't do as much damage as the experts predict, but I had to laugh at this video.  I click on it expecting a crazy amount of damage, etc. and it's obvious that the "I reporter" is hamming it up a little.  The ship was experiencing maybe 15 degree rolls when they were filming.  It also looks like a lot of the items in the store were actually taken off of the shelves intentionally to reduce damage.

When I was in the Navy, the ship I was on was top heavy.  One more than one occasion, we hit storms that caused us to do nearly 40 degree rolls (this is movement from side to side).  You would be walking down a passageway and you'd have your hand on the wall to balance yourself.  On top of this, you would have a nasty amount of pitch (up and down movement) as well.  Pitch was actually worse than roll, because it's that feeling like your going down a hill on a roller coaster, but not as pleasant.

That video is definitely lame IMO.
