Fire Hap will not eat!
« on: October 05, 2012, 09:40:32 AM »
Can anyone help. I have a Fire Hap that within the last few days has started to show he is male. His anal fin is elongating and i can see some of the silver and black starting to fade. However he is acting like he is holding eggs. When i feed the others he swims up to the food but will not eat it. Just like my females do when they are holding. He seems normal other than not eating. Anyone ever see this before?

It could be that the fish is a female that just shows some male undertones...or it could be that it's a male just deciding to hold eggs. There have been instances where males will carry eggs....strange, but true.

Try getting food with garlic that usually will bring them back around to eating as well as kill of any internal parasites it may have. But the big trick is getting it eating

You can also mix the food with finely minced garlic then let it set for awhile before feeding it.
