I decided I want to set up my up sterilizer a little different than what I already had and have a question. I have a coralife 12x (36watt). It says it needs about 300 gph for parasite control. This is what I really would like to achieve as I do not have a quarantine tank. I plan on adding a second pump with a lower gph to achieve this and then splicing it Into my return line. My tank is a 195 with about a 60 sump. Current pump is about 1100 gph. What size pump should I use? The water has to pump up about 4 1/2 ft to the tank and also has to push through the sterilizer unit. Any thoughts? My first thought was about 500 gph but I’m doubting myself.
