75gal
« on: June 23, 2012, 07:53:14 AM »
Finally got my 75gal pretty much ready for fish. I think i really like the look without plants for now. Next is what do i move into it. Im thinking about my Jack Dempsey's, I have 8 total that are all under 4 inches or so.... ??? ??? Yet to be determined I suppose...

I'd probably trade the jacks for some africans or community tropicals.

Hmm, my largest male has got such great color in him. Lots of spangle/blue spotting. I was sorta hoping to breed them and get a few batches of fry maybe. Not to mention my location doesn't really help me with the whole trading thing to much... ::) ::) Plus im kinda wanting a couple large fish in a tank again..

Booo!

Although,  I myself would get rid of the JD's also. I'm not particularly fond of them.
But, for you - I think they are a good New World species...  Not too hard to breed, but also not "just add water&  go"
Plus they are a nice "bread& butter" species,  that are good looking&  should be easy to unload fry.

BTW - the tank looks good. But, might wanna watch the highest rock to the right.  It doesn't look too stable from here.

Ron, I always thank you for the serious matters of course. And as far as the Fancy guppies.. That is where I started about 3 years ago, I got 2 from my tattoo guy for nothin and put them in a 10 gal tank. Then went in a blizzard to get another free tank 18 miles out. And there the addiction was born.... :P :P

I see both male&  female in the pictures.  So, you should have No problem getting a pair.

75% water changes every 3days ,along with a heavy& varied diet will speed up the process.

The one thing I suggest you do is - grow the fry to at least 2-2.5" before selling any. JDs can have a high deformation count.
This way you have a better chance of not selling anything with deformity.
