Hello from Allen Park
« on: August 14, 2012, 04:24:49 PM »
Hi, I'm Dan.  I've gotten back into fish earlier this year from keeping them long ago when I was little.

Currently, I have the following:

40 breeder with pair of Honduran Red Points, school of tiger barbs, one rainbow shark, and a very small pleco
40 breeder with pair of Kribs, and juveniles of senegal bichir, african brown knife, leaf fish (ctenopoma), and an upside down catfish
29 community with black neon tetras, kuhli loaches, otocinclus catfish, pair of gold rams, and a small opaline gourami
29 mixed with fire belly toads (in the upper third) and a harem of platies (1M 4F) in the 20 gallons below
20 hex with young pair of pink convicts - which spawned last week after having them only about three weeks
20 long with trio of Bolivian rams
20 long with pair of red jewels

Looking forward to getting to know folks and learn more about breeding different kinds of cichlids.

Welcome.

How is that firebelly toad tank working out for you. I tried something similar before in a 10G but it didn't work out too well. Would probably look nice in a 29. Some pics would be sweet.

In what way did it not work out?  Mine has been this way maybe two months or so...no problems yet.  I will post pics soon.

I'm not sure why it didn't work out...but I think it'd be cool to try it again. Maybe with some FBT and/or some Mudskippers. Will have to look into it. Are you feeding the toads crickets?

So what happened then...they died?

Yes,crickets.  And doing a 20% water change weekly or so.

Yes they did. I read something about them leaching poisons into the water...
