D'oh.

I'm picking up an oil filled heater today. Decided to just heat the room.

Thanks everyone. I do need to look at options.  My fear is though since my walls are not really insulated, I am wondering how much of the heat I would lose.  Have some thinking to do after this mishap.

Hope you figure out a good solution.  Sorry the fish didn't make it.

Josh - Sorry to hear about your lose !

You might be able to build perimeter walls outta metal studs (cut down on the saw dust) and then use styro insulation between the studs...

The Metal studs are easy, they go together like an erector set...  NO MESS !

Josh, it's good to consider your options but even if you do nothing to the room to increase insulation, you an still compare your current energy consumption with in-tank heaters vs. a room heater or gas furnace.  Natural gas is considerably cheaper than electricity BTU per BTU, especially in the case of in-tank heaters in my experience.  The ventless gas heaters available on the market today put all the heat generated into the room.  The heat loss from the room will be the same whether you're heating to a specific temperature with a central room heater or the combination of in-tank heaters you have today.  If you were to add insulation, you'll retain more of the heat generated.  I plan to attend the MCAS auction on November 9th.  If you are there, I'd be more than happy to share my experiences with you.
