Hello to everyone from Tailfins LLC
« on: November 03, 2012, 11:49:39 PM »
Hello everybody, its an honor to once again be a member of the Michigan cichlid association. I have been involved with the cichlid hobby since i was eight years old, and bred them since i was 12. I recently purchased the former Petstation on telegraph in Dearborn heights, we specialize in African cichlids, coral propogation, and anything odd or unusual. We are now called Tail Fins, come check us out if you get a chance 5317 telegraph road 48125. We have a great selection, everything from african goliath tiger fish to a wild caught Tyrannochromis Macrostoma, many types of flowerhorn, marbled rhom piranha, wild Crenicichla Strigata striped pike, and a huge selection of african cichlids, large males and many young F1s. For the salt water people out there we also have a great selection of fish, and a ton of affordable coral frags from ten dollars and up. My name is Tristan Nish and i look forward to many excellent conversations to come.

Welcome to the forum!  Good luck with your new business.  :)

Obviously Pet Station has had some very bad things occur in the past few years.  It nice to hear it is a different ownership.  There are many rumors about the ownership still being tied to the previous owner.  It would be nice to hear those rumors squashed.

Again, welcome to the forum.

I have no tie to the previous owner and there is no evidence suggesting that. I am a well known part of the fish community and have worked in the industry for a long time, including some time at the Tropicorium. I think it is pretty obvious that having paid good money for a store and having to put a large amount of money into renovations means i definitely will not honor the credit of the previous owners, and dont understand why anyone would be expected to do so in a similar situation. How much money am i expected to pay out to customers whos fish the previous owner probably sold a long time ago?

I think a no would have sufficed.

See that's what I would expect. But, what puzzles me is - Why would you tell me " No, don't worry about your credit,  if there is anyway you're going to loose it-  I will get ahold of you"

Did you forget about saying that? Or,    Did you just not care?

Either way it tells me something about your business ethics&  shows how much you actually care about your customers. I realize you run a business&  do so in order to make money.  But, lying to the people who spend THEIR "good money" with you  probably isn't gonna get you too far.

But, welcome to the forum&  good luck with your venture, just don't expect to see any of my "good money" or quality fish come through your doors.

Im not sure your thinking of the right person, i most certainly never said anything of the sort to you. Íts hard for me to understand why you cant quite understand this. I do not feel bad not honoring pet station credit, why should that be my responsibility? Is it me who does bad business or the former owner? Either way regalblue with an attitude like that i would prefer you keep your good money and your "quality fish" out of my store. You go purchase a store, and tell me whether you plan on paying for all the former owners mistakes... use some common sense. I didnt come to this forum to argue with people, i came to be a part of the cichlid community. I am a very successful business man already, this is not my first venture. So for those who have been nice thank you very much and i look forward to many very interesting threads. For those who would like to argue i would be glad to do so in person.

This is none of my business and I certainly don't care to get involved, but I do have to say one thing. As a small business owner myself (not pet related) Right or wrong as a business owner it is never wise to argue on a public forum with anyone no matter whom is right or wrong, it just does not look good. IMO things like that would be best kept to emails/PM's. Just sayin...

At any rate welcome to the forum.

Hmm, I agree that a friendly "sorry, but no I will not honor the previous owner's credits" would have been a better statement.

I would think "a very successful business man" would refrain from arguing in his introduction on a fish forum.
How do you think that looks to a potential customer?
I especially am concerned about this statement: "For those who would like to argue i would be glad to do so in person."
IMHO that is not the right way to encourage open arms from a new forum or to garner new customers from said fish forum.

No better statement could be made on this subject.

I didn't say you should honor the credit Ash gave out. (I wouldn't myself)   I asked why you would tell customers that their credit would still be good.
It was a simple question.  But,  I guess I know the answer...  There's some other Ronald McDonald look-a-like lying to people*.

Have a good one. I've said what needed to be said&  I am done with this thread, just  as I am done with your store.

*That's plural, as I am NOT the only person who was told this.

It's one thing to make your point about your business dealings with a store or their personnel, it's quite another to make a personal attack based on someone's appearance.  I'm locking the thread.  Any other comments of this nature will not be tolerated.

Another valid point to consider for anyone selling fish, though.  Cash or goods in kind as trade at the time of sale will always avoid a situation anything like this.  Unless you have a Visa of Mastercard logo after your name, why are you extending credit to anyone?
